Ilizarov

Ilizarov frames are a type of fixation system used to treat bone deformities, fractures, and their complications. These frames provide stability, preserve soft tissue, and allow for adjustments, enabling bones to heal properly. An Ilizarov external fixator, also known as an Ilizarov frame, is a ring-like brace applied to the outside of the limb. It is connected through the unbroken part of the bone inside the limb using tensioned wires called pins. These pins are attached to metal rods on the outside frame, providing stability to the bone.
