After holding your G1 for a minimum of 12 months, or a reduced 8 months if you complete an MTO-approved Beginner Driver Education (BDE) course, you can take your G2 road test. The G2 license grants more freedom, allowing you to drive independently, although the zero blood alcohol rule still applies, and there are passenger restrictions for drivers 19 and under between midnight and 5 a.m.
