India stands to benefit from the US government’s restrictive stance towards immigration. To save jobs for Americans in view of the Coronavirus-affected economy, the Trump administration has banned issuance of new H1B visa, a most popular US employment visa that is largely granted to Indian techies, till the end of 2020. Those having their H1B visa yet to be renewed are barred from entering the United States this year. The visa and entry restrictions for foreign professionals, which took effect in June 2020, may be revised and extended further based on an assessment of the economy in 2021.
