A person authorised to perform marriage ceremonies or civil partnership declarations by the Office of Fair Trading in Queensland. Marriage celebrants are not legally recognised marital status officials, however, they are recognised as having the authority to solemnise marriages in Australia under section 47 of the Marriage Act (1961).
