In the mid-90s, Madam Wang How Wah found joy in creating layer cakes for her friends and relatives at her local neighbourhood of Tanjung Bungah, on Penang Island. They were immediately addicted to the delicious flavours of her homemade labour of love. Throughout these times, she experimented with several flavours, ingredients and recipes while constantly collecting feedback, reviews and concerns from her loyal customers. From this research and analysis, it was found that the best seller was the Indonesian Layer Cake, which has now become the signature layer cake of Sunflower.
